Anesthesia and Surgery
Although a large part of the care we provide is routine and preventative in nature, we also provide full surgical care to address medical concerns. Our approach to anesthesia and surgery is methodical, seeking optimal outcomes for each patient with the highest safety standards. We understand the seriousness of anesthetizing your smallest family members, and we proceed with the utmost care.
Hydration is an important aspect of surgical veterinary care. Each patient is treated with proper fluids via IV catheterization throughout the entire procedure. This ensures that vital organs such as the brain and kidneys continue to be infused with adequate circulation. The IV catheter also maintains immediate access to the bloodstream should an unforeseen complication be encountered.
An important aspect of surgery is the careful monitoring of vital signs. Our equipment allows us to maintain a consistent eye on heart rate, oxygen levels in the blood, breathing rate, and blood pressure.

Veterinary surgery procedures performed in our Pasadena clinic include:
- Spay and neuter
- Tumor removal
- Dental procedures, such as extractions
- Foreign body removal
- Abscess repairs
- Bladder stone removal
- A board-certified surgeon performs specialized procedures such as fracture repairs, cruciate tear repairs (ACL tears) , and luxating patella repairs (knee problem repairs).
In situations when advanced hospital care is needed for specialized procedures, we will recommend an experienced, board-certified specialist who will provide your pet with the quality care you expect.
Petsadena is equipped with the state-of-the-art equipment that provides the accurate data needed to complete procedures and promote rapid healing. In addition to digital x-rays, ultrasound, and an in-house laboratory and pharmacy to handle most of our needs, we also have cold laser therapy to assist our patients in post-surgical and wound healing.
The technologies that we have in our clinic enable us to identify problems right away and provide the exceptional care necessary to restore your pet to optimal health and vitality. Pet parents are encouraged to maintain annual check-ups for routine screenings and assessment.
Most procedures and recovery monitoring can be completed in the same day. If hospitalization might be a necessary step, we will discuss this possibility as early as possible. We understand your need for accurate and timely information, and we accommodate that to the best of our ability.
