Emmeline Ye, DVM

Dr. Emmeline Ye has always loved animals, though she didn’t realize her dream of becoming a veterinarian until she was 20 years old. She started out as an Economics Major at UCSD and was completing an externship at an international bank in China when she realized she had no passion for what she was doing. It was at that moment she decided to pursue a career that would make a real difference in the lives of those around her. “I thought about what kind of impact I wanted to make and decided that I wanted to become an expert in animals”, Dr. Ye said of her early years. She was especially driven by her first dog, Coco, who inspired her to educate herself further on animals so she could provide Coco with a happier, healthier life. This eventually led to Dr. Ye wanting to provide a healthy and happy life for all pets, not just her own.

Sooah Goo, DVM

From a young age, Dr. Goo knew she always wanted to be around animals. As she grew, she realized that in order for her to love her career, working with animals was a must. “When I was 7 years old, I woke up to find my Spaniel, Joy, paralyzed and in pain.” Dr. Goo shares. “Growing up as an immigrant, there was a language barrier as well as financial constraints that limited our access to veterinary care and she was euthanized the same day. Feeling powerless to heal and bring my best friend back home was what first inspired me to want to help animals.”

When she got older, Dr. Goo volunteered at the local zoo and worked several positions at veterinary clinics. During this time, she was able to gain some understanding of her dog Joy’s condition. It was also during this time that Dr. Goo officially decided to become a veterinarian.
